The first iteration of this message was posted on 3/14/20 (4 days before opening night)
I have updated, only slightly, the original message that is below .. .
1 of CORNINGWORKS 4 mission driven goals is the commitment to using our artistic voice
To build awareness & an alternative forum for dialogue covering social & civic relevance
My goal as an artist has always been to share the human experience through the works I create - to open doors & create bridges between genders, races, ethnicities, cultures, generations --
pursuing platforms of understanding, empathy; venues for dialogues, shared voices
boldly, unabashedly,
I pledge to continue: to listen, to learn, to stand in support of, and to speak out whenever and wherever I can against the injustices acted out upon humanity.
Dear CORNINGWORKS community,
On March 14, 2020, I composed and sent out this difficult message — a confusing time for so many. . . to POSTPONE (NOT CANCEL) the premiere of —
THE TIPPING POINT — what would it take for YOU to leave home?
we will remount the production as soon as it is safe to do so

FOR THOSE WHO PURCHASED TICKETS ... there’s a note for you at the bottom of this message.
In 40 years of producing shows I have never had to “postpone” one, until now. A very painful & difficult decision, ESPECIALLY because it was such an IMPORTANT production AND because we were days away from our nearly sold out opening!
Much gratitude goes to HEARcorp and 25 Carrick, the performers and the extraordinary creative team, and of course to my wonderful Syrian Family, for all their support, ingenuity, and dedication during the development of this work.
I started working on this show over a year before this "postponement" It is the most ambitious production of my career. I am committed to this show totally and emotionally. ALL OF US – performers, creators, and everyone at the venue — are committed to remounting the show as soon as it’s “SAFE.”
Safe to say I think we ALL wish it was possible to grasp a clearer picture of our immediate future. But the only true statement right now seems to be that we will have to see how this all unfolds. Watching as portions of the world come to a standstill - while outside my window the scene appears so normal. . . it feels surreal on so many levels.
After making this momentous and almost crippling decision on the night of March 11th, I woke up this morning with a new thought:
The meaning behind "THE TIPPING POINT,” it’s very essence, is about taking action. Scary and difficult and necessary action.
Halting this production just days before we opened, when we had almost sold out the entire run of 20 shows – was scary and difficult — ultimately though, I did what I had hoped people would do after experiencing the show – TO TAKE ACTION NOW. And that is what we did.
I thank everyone who has been working on this, to everyone who bought tickets and was planning to come. We are disappointed, but know that when we get to set this up again – it will be stronger and even more important.
For now I just want to extend my deep, deep gratitude to my entire community that has supported CORNINGWORKS in so many ways. Please do what you need to do as we go forward together. It is always better when we can be patient and look out for each other.
With sincere care,
Beth
