THE EVENING BEGAN with a
delicious feast created by some of Pittsburgh’s top chefs! Jamilka Borges & Dianne DiStefano — LILLITH, Chaz — "Culinary Artist", Andrew Garbarino — GARBARINO's, Nikki Heckman — BISTRO TO GO, Roger Levine — Culinary Institute, Ricci Minelli — Brick 'n Mortar & Michele Savoia — DISH Osteria
FOLLOWED BY a 1-time-only performance
Corning presented 3 solos selected from the 24 original full-evening works created over the last 15 years in Pittsburgh.
Laying bare (not only herself as she changed costumes on stage), the inner texts she uses to create her works, what she shares with the dancers she sets this movement on, and, what the dialogue is in her head while performing.
Corning engaged with the audience in an informal back & forth repartee in between performing each solo — performing each solo not once, but twice (the first time without music, or costume, or theatrical lights, she "talked through" as she moved; the second time - as she would for a full performance)! As well she played a very informative game of “THE PRICE IS RIGHT… or is it?” Asking the audience to guess the cost of a CORNINGWORKS production, including items like: the weekly cost of renting a theater; hiring load in & out crew; renting necessary extra lights, a projector if used, a marley dance floor; the marketing costs; fees for the lighting, set, costume, graphic designers; the photographer; oh, and the performers; and, oh yes, and the choreographer/ artistic director …
another layer to this TRES entertaining, intimate, and SERIOUSLY ENLIGHTENING evening!

"This anniversary evening celebrates the 90+ artisans with whom I’ve had the great and humbling honor of creating these 24 productions. It also recognizes the community that’s been built over these 15 years, an accomplishment I cherish more than words can ever express. This “not so quiet” evening is my continued pledge to continue building this community, and to excitedly keep creating and sharing this work with you all. — THANK YOU ALL … so much! With love and much gratitude, Beth"
A (not so) Quiet Evening with Beth… was made possible in part with support from: CORNINGWORKS Board of Directors, The Heinz Endowments, Individual Donors, Off The Wall Charitable Trust, Opportunity Fund, PA Council on the Arts, The Pittsburgh Foundation & The Space Upstairs.
